Reading the "First Father" piece on the front page of yesterday's Times, sometimes I don't understand what the paper considers newsworthy -- front page newsworthy at that. Then again, it just might be Karl and the boys messing with the public and paving the way for a graceful exit.
In a story otherwise devoid of anything new, what's with dropping George senior's complaint that Rumsfeld "badly served" his son? And, funny that today the UN security Council voted unanimously to expand its mission in Iraq and will take on a "more powerful advisory role" -- whatever that means.
Could we be watching a Kabuki play where the story unfolds that Rumsfeld abused his authority and kept poor George 43 in the dark and -- if only he was given the right information sooner -- he could have fixed things in Iraq. Now realizing how he was duped by Rumsfeld and his gang, he's wisely calling on the UN to sort things out. And, of course, everything is Rumsfeld's fault. Exit stage right. Curtain.
But it's so far fetched I'm not sure anyone would believe it. Kind of like the WMDs.
